| Our first GLACIER! This is Mendenhall
Glacier near Juneau. |
| In Juneau with beautiful mountains in
the background |
| After 3 days on the ship, we
finally arrived in Haines! We spent our first night here looking for bears
with someone we met that evening. Never found any. |
| We love the snow-covered mountains! |
| This is the 100+ year old steam boat
of a dentist we met in Haines. He lives in the boat. He previously owned
a practice in Pike Place Market in Seattle, Wa while we lived in Wa. We
remember seeing his practice several times. Small world! |
| We took an amazing hour-long
flightseeing tour over the east wing of Glacier Bay National Park. Absolutely
astonishing - miles and miles of glaciers. |
| A waterfall running down from this glacier. |
| We were all smiles! |
| Amaaaaaaaaazing! We saw lots of Dall's
Sheep in the mountains around the park. |
| The great Alaska Highway! The Yukon
was beautiful, untouched land with mountains and lakes as well as the worst
highway we've ever driven on in our lives! |
| Take a close look. This is called a
highway. A dirt/gravel/mud road not even close to flat - there were patches
of pavement. This continued throughout all of the Canadian part of the Alaska
Highway. |
| There was plenty of beautiful
scenery. |
| The Alaska part of the Alaska
Highway. We couldn't have been happier. The roads were great. |
| Arrival in Tok and the end of
the Alaska Highway for us. Our truck was a mess. |
| Ever seen anyone mowing his roof?! |
| Polliann and Gretel and scenery
that continued all the way to Anchorage |
| Fireweed is everywhere here. |
| There's a huge mountain over Robert's
left shoulder but you just can't see it very well in the picture! On to
Anchorage... |
