Denali National Park & Preserve features North America's highest mountain, 20,320-foot tall Mount McKinley.

  Here's a picture of McKinley!

Just over Robert's head you can see McKinley.

While hiking in certain areas, head nets are a must to protect oneself from Alaska's state bird - the monster-sized mosquito.

This a picture of Denali Rivers Cabins where we stayed while at Denali.

Polliann was climbing up the mountain trying to get a better view of the Dall sheep in the area.

This Dall sheep walked right by Robert.

A Dall sheep walking around the rocks - something they do quite well!

Try walking down that! The sheep's footprints start at the word down.

We saw 8 grizzly bears while we were in the park!

We went on a 6 hour adventure hike with a National Park Service Ranger. We climbed to the top of a 5,500 foot mountain.

The views were astounding.

Amazingly, flowers are able to grow through the rock covered ridges in a place with extremely cold temperatures for most of the year.

Hiking around the ridges...

"Getting off the bus" allows one to find gems like this hidden waterfall.

This is a good picture showing how the flowers grow through the rocks.

Most of the snow at the lower elevations had melted. However, as you can see, some of it still remained.

Polliann taking a break!

Check out this hoary marmot. It's in the center of the picture. The name "hoary" comes from the white colors found on the marmot's shoulders and neck.

More hiking...

The real Alaska state bird is the willow Ptarmigan. There are three species of Ptarmigan in Alaska. This is the rock Ptarmigan. We found it near a creek.

If this isn't Alaskan, nothing is! Yep. That's a black bear strolling across the highway.
