Talkeetna is a small town near Denali with a true "Alaskan" ambiance. It is the home of the Talkeetna Ranger Station where mountaineers stop before climbing Mt. McKinley.

Where the road ends, the airstrip begins!

Talkeetna is the meeting place of the Chulitna, Susitna ans Talkeetna Rivers. We spent some time flyfishing the nearby waters using some of the newest flies we tied.

The Alaska Range is faintly visible above our heads. This picture was taken from the deck of the Talkeetna Alaskan Lodge.

 Nice dog sled, eh?!

Polliann climbing a cache during a tour of a trapper's cabin area where we viewed how trappers lived in "Bush" Alaska at the turn of the century.

How's this for a close-up shot?! This was an amazing way to see Denali.

Those specks in the pictures are hikers and their base camp during their ascent of Mt. McKinley.

Look at that BLUE glacial ice on the ground. Each area is probably the size of a small lake!
